Tuesday with Wendy, Sept 26th

9/29/2017

Check out the WONDERFUL cards from this week's class!!
Picture
Just as always, each card features a different technique!!

Because the cards from last class were SUCH A HIT, Wendy used another image for the fold-over style card..

Wendy used this stamp from Stampendous, Birdie Greeting..
Picture
Just like before, the card is easy to make!!
  • Take your card base and fold it half
  • Open the card and stamp on the INSIDE of the card on the LEFT side
  • Use an Exacto Knife to fussy-cut the image ON THE RIGHT SIDE ONLY
  • Flip-forward the image so that it is now on the front of the card!
Wendy encouraged the students to use different types of glitter-glue, drops, and shimmer pens to create "snow" on the card!!

She used:
Seashell Nuvo Drops
Frosted Lace Stickles
Icicle Stickles and
Stardust Stickles
Nuvo Shimmer Pen

Wendy used Snowflake paper and a bit of ribbon to add a little bit of dimension.. I loved how soft and winter-like this card is!!
Picture
The next card is this lovely Fall card... This stamp, Autumn is Calling, from Impression Obsession is PERFECT!

Wendy paired the saying with this STUNNING Fall set from Pink Ink/Impression Obsession, Falling Leaves

Picture
To make this card:
  • Wendy peeled off EVERY STAMP from this set and placed it on the new Tim Holtz Platform.
  • She arranged some of the stamps to go on the front of the card. The rest of the stamps she arranged for the inside of the card
  • She stamped the leaves using Versafine, Vintage Sepia.
  • Next, Wendy stamped the sentiment with Distress Ink color Aged Mahogany
  • She layered the sentiment with some burgundy paper by Flavors Gourmet and used a handmade paper as a nice background (as you can see in the pictures below, the papers she chose have some inclusions)
  • To finish the card, she added a touch of green ribbon and some textured green handmade paper to make a TRUE Fall-themed card
I just LOVE how beautiful this card is!!!
Picture
This last card in the series is the MOST BRILLIANT (in my opinion!)

Wendy used this Paper Layering Dove by Hero Arts and this Fall Blessings stamp by Impression Obsession.
Picture

Not only is this card just STUNNING.. but it also has this beautiful soft paper behind it.. which really sets off the bird in flight..

To make the background:
  • Take a small amount of the product, Bleed Proof White and place it on a piece of plastic (we used a clear acrylic block)
  • Dilute the ink with a bit of water and blend together using a toothbrush
  • Over a piece of dark blue paper, brush the bristles of the brush with your finger, creating a light splatter-effect
  • The results are beautiful!!
  • Next, stamp your sentiment in in Versamark ink and emboss with White Embossing Powder
  • Die-cut the dove out of a white metallic paper (we chose Ice Gold cardstock)
  • Using a small pick or tool, lift some of the feathers up and give the dove dimension with some Mounting Tape
Wendy cut out a little branch as the Olive Branch and that just really finished the card nicely..

Tuesday with Wendy, Sept 12th

9/16/2017

This week for Tuesday with Wendy, the gals were having so much fun!! The 3 cards, which showcased 3 different techniques, were a HUGE HIT!!
Picture
The first card, pictured above on the top left, was actually designed as a Birthday Card for Wendy's Mother-in-law... Wendy loved making it SO MUCH that she decided to make it one of the cards this week!!
Picture
Wendy used 2 different products to make this card, Happy Birthday Streamer from Poppy and a Laurel Burch design, Floral Vase by Stampendous.

The technique:
  • Score your card so it folds in half nicely
  • Open the card and stamp the image on the INSIDE of the card on the left side. Wendy stamped in Versafine Onyx Black and embossed the image with Detail Gold embossing powder.
  • Using an Exacto Knife, begin to fussy-cut the image, making sure to only cut on the RIGHT SIDE OF THE IMAGE.
  • Cut only half of the image out (the RIGHT side). Then, making sure you have only cut to the half-way point of the Floral Vase, and flip it forward.
  • The vase is now on the FRONT of the card
  • Stamp and fussy-cut a second Floral Vase. Using pop-dots, tape the Floral Vase down on top of the original vase.
  • Using Tombow Markers, color in the Floral Vase as much as you'd like!
  • Mount decorative, flower paper on the inside. We used the line Weekend Adventures by Bo Bunny. Wendy then mounted the flower paper onto Stardream Antique Gold paper.. which really brings out the gold on the flower stamp!!
Picture
The next card... and my FAVORITE.. was made using this Pirate Cove stamp from Stampendous, the Birds and Banners die-cut from Penny Black, and the Tangled Webs embossing folder from Taylored Expressions
Picture
To make the card:
  • Start out by embossing a piece of background paper with the Tangled Webs embossing folder (Wendy used one of the papers we carry that has an old map printed on it). She used a Distress ink pad, Vintage Photo, and applied the ink directly onto the embossed spiderweb image. Make sure to lightly apply it!!  This  will make the spiderwebs POP on the page.
  • Next, Wendy lightly stamped out the Pirate Cove image onto a piece of copy paper and then fussy-cut-out the circle part of the stamp ONLY
  • Wendy took the piece of map paper (with the spiderwebs embossed on it) and flipped it over upside-down on the counter. She traced the circle (from the last step) onto the paper.
  • Using an Exacto Knife, start in the center of the circle and cut slices into the CIRCLE PART ONLY.. kind of like a pizza... BE SURE not to cut around the outside circle!!
  • Then, flip over the piece of paper. Using a skewer, or a small dowel, roll back the "Slices" you just made!! Roll them tightly so they remain curled!
  • On a piece of Astroparche paper, stamp the Pirate Cove image out using Versafine, Sepia  and emboss with Clear Bark embossing powder
  • Overlay your piece of map paper and tape it down using double-sided tape. The Pirate Cove image should be peeking out from behind the sliced circle you created.
  • To finish the card, use one of the banners from the Birds and Banners die-cut set. Wendy used the Distress, Vintage Photo ink pad and applied ink directly to the banner giving it an "aged" effect!
Isn't this card just SO COOL!?!?!? I LOVE IT!!!!
Picture
The last card in the series was made using this fall-themed truck from Penny Black, Pumpkin Truck. A very easy card to put together!!
  • Stamp out the image using Versafine, Sepia and emboss with Clear Bark embossing powder.
  • Fussy-cut-out the truck
  • Use 2 strips of Decorative Paper to frame-out the truck (Wendy used Hello Fall by Carta Bella)
  • Die-cut the Give Thanks die-cut from Impression Obsession
  • Color in the truck! Wendy likes to use Prismacolor colored pencils, but some gals wanted to use Tombow Markers... whatever you choose to color with is up to you!!
  • Put the card together using double-sided tape
Fun cards this week!!!
