We have been LOVING all the new coloring books that have been coming in this week, and there are so many different styles!!
One of our favorite books is the Fantastic Cities which has some beautiful mendalas within it.
I decided to play around with some coloring techniques with "The Time Garden." In this photo pictured below I used the Faber Castell watercolor pencils. I used a waterbrush to get the watercolor effect and decided to use a rainbow palette to really get some vibrant colors.
On this next page I used Prismacolor colored pencils and used different shades together to create a neat effect. I love colored pencils, they are probably the most-used medium out of all my pens and pencils.
Pictured below is a page I did just using one colored pencil. By playing around with the pressure of the pencil I can either get a really vibrant effect or a much lighter, almost pastel effect, depending on how I use the pencil.
On one of the other pages, I used only 2 pencils ( a dark and lighter green). By playing around with where shadows might lie, I was able to create dimension. Again, by using pressure on my pencils in different ways I was able to give the idea of a darker, and deeper, alleyway.
Below in this next selection of photos, I used the LePens. And just like I tell our customers, most of us have these pens and every color. And this is why: vibrant, fine-point pen, writes beautiful, and they are only $1.70 a piece. It is worth it to have them in your collection. I used the cross-hatch technique in the photo on the left that gave it a shadow effect without having to color in each section. in the photo on the right I had a lot of intricate areas that were even too small for my colored pencils. I not only was able to get in all the little edges of each patttern, I also was able to doodle and add my own flare to the hearts that were left blank.
We also have watercolor palettes, Color Burst, metallic pens, and more! Come in today to see all the ways you can color those books, we'd love to share our ideas!!
