I have been LOVING the new sequins out from Hero Arts.. they are just perfect for adding a Snow Flourish on a card or great for SHAKER CARDS!!!
We also got in a new shipment of Stampotique stamps!! They not only sent a few Christmas images, like the angels you see below, but also some fun designs for Fall!!
With this Tree Line, you can easily turn it into a Winter card by stamping it on a white or blue background.. or a Fall or Halloween card by simply adding a line of pumpkins along the bottom!!
*So many possibilities*
We got SEVERAL new die-cuts and stamp sets from Penny Black this week as well...
Let's not forget our favorite part.. PAPER!!!
This is a fun 6 x 6 paper pad from Penny Black, Festive and Frosty!!
New paper is here from Lawn Fawn as well!!
Knit Picky has some fun prints that *ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE KNIT* How cute is that?!!?
The other grouping of papers from Lawn Fawn is this line, Chill
Personally, I just LOVE this color palette!! It would work great for cards for men as the pattern is more masculine and the colors aren't as vibrant as some of our other paper lines.
By far, my favorite release this week has been the Carta Bella paper, Hello Fall!!!
The Pumpkins!! The Racoons!! The Trees!!!
I LOVE IT ALL!!!!
Stop in to see us this week to take a look for yourself at all the fun NEW STUFF!!!
And be sure to walk around, we have a new display of Autumn Die-cuts that is SURE to catch your eye!!
See you soon!!
I LOVE when we get new paper in at the store!!! It is just so fun to see all the new prints!
We got in two new paper lines this week: Under the Sea by Echo Park and Cartopia by CartaBella
I just got SO EXCITED when I saw these lines!! As soon as I saw the Submarine paper from the Under the Sea collection, I knew EXACTLY which die-cut I would pair it with! This is Family of Fish by Memory Box
This paper line also has ADORABLE stamps!! I just *fell in love*
When I saw the Cartopia line.. I immediately had to make a scrapbook page idea! It is just *perfect* for showcasing photos from a road trip!!
I got inspired from ideas on Pinterest (YES, even us creative ladies need Pinterest to get inspired sometimes!!) I loved this idea of folding a page back to expose a pattern underneath and then tacking it in place using a Glue Dot and an orange button. How cute is that?!?
Bekah and I brainstormed ideas on how to make this page fun without making it TOO busy.
I used this die cut from Memory Box, Pinpoint Single Frame. I cut it out of a piece of red paper two times and backed the cutout with black paper. The effect looks almost like a photo strip! It is simple enough to make the page look complete instead of too busy... and gives a nice space to add a couple photos.
We were looking everywhere in the store for a good title for the page.. and then it hit me!! (no pun intended)
This die-cut from Sizzix, Regal Crest is the PERFECT shape for an interstate sign!! We used two styles of lettering die-cuts, also from Sizzix, to make the little sign. I AM IN LOVE!!! I could not be happier with how it turned out.. what a fun idea!!
To finish off the page, we used these car stickers by Mrs. Grossman's, a bit of Crystal Lacquer and a touch of Star Dust Stickles. I just HAD to add the lacquer to the little head lights! The Stickles were perfect for adding a prickle to the cactus!
I also made a couple cards using this same paper line and they were TOO CUTE! This Happy Summer die-cut is made by Taylored Expressions
This Adventure die-cut is part of a set, campfire sayings, by Cottage Cutz
With all the other die-cuts we carry.. you can be inspired with other ideas too!! This Old Woody holding a surf board (made by Impression Obsession) would be a perfect addition to any card or page using this paper!
It sure is fun to create! Stop by and see us this weekend.. we would LOVE to share these ideas with you!!
This last Tuesday with Wendy class was REALLY FUN!!
Wendy used a variety of different ideas for this class..
The first card, and possibly my most favorite, she made using the new River Faerie from Memory Box/Poppy.
Wendy made this card by taking a piece of Kromekote paper and doing an ink transfer.
Take 2 colors of Distress ink pads (Wendy used Blueprint Sketch and Crushed Olive)
Apply some ink to your craft mat
Spritz with water
Take the piece of Kromekote paper, glossy side down, and do an ink transfer lift!
The last step, die-cut into the paper using Gentle Leaf Collage by Memory Box/Poppy
The results are ALWAYS different!
Lastly, Wendy placed the fairy on the branch she had cut out... What a gorgeous card!!
*Some people preferred the "ballerina" look versus the "fairy" which is easy to do! The wings and body are 2 separate die-cuts
*I love how Wendy placed the fairy in the area that has the burst of bright color.. it matched up perfectly!!
The next card Wendy did was done with the new Crowned Puppy stamp from Impression Obsession and the background stamp, Brushstroke Bold Prints new from Hero Arts.
The card is an unusual style, and folded so you see a peek of the background stamp pattern behind the dog image.
The little dog is *SO CUTE* !!! I just fell in love with this card..
You can either color the dog or leave him black and white!! This card featured a teal and black color palette.. but you could make this card as *wild* as you like depending on how you color the dog!!
The Oval in this card is made by Tonic and is a set.. Mixed Edge Oval Layering Basics
The last card.. and the MOST STUNNING... was this one using the new Hero Arts multi-step-stamping set Color Layering Blue Whale .. this set is SO AMAZING!!! The whale looks so realistic and there ARE EVEN DIVERS included in this set!!!! I can't believe how great this card is...
Wendy used the wave stamp (included in the set) and stamped it in 2 different shades of blue.. Majestic Blue and Lagoon Blue both by Versafine
She finished off this card with a bit of textured ribbon by May Arts! The mesh style makes this card have GREAT depth!!
Wendy finished all 3 cards off with a cute stamp from Rosie's Roadshow.. All I want to do is Party CUTE!!
Stop in to see us today to see these cards in person! The photos just don't do these cards justice..
Our next card making class is on Tuesday June 27th!
Call us or come in to sign up. The same class is offered at 3 DIFFERENT times and the class only takes about an hour an a half! (If you love to color, chat, or just take your time, you can stay longer! It's a work-at-your-own-pace kind of class)
If you have ANY questions at all, feel free to give us a call!! 360-647-9663
As I sit here writing this, I am literally squirming out of my seat WITH EXCITEMENT!!
We just opened up a box of brand new product from Memory Box and I CANNOT BE HAPPIER!!!
My favorite part??
The *All New* FAIRIES have finally arrived!!!!!
Along with 3 new fairies, we also got MINI FAIRIES!!! The Magnificent Mini Fairies have been on my "Want List" ever since I saw them online 3 days ago!!
Earlier this week, I came across this STUNNING sample on the Poppy Stamps website (using the NEW MINI FAIRIES), found here: http://poppystamps.typepad.com/poppystamps/2017/06/night-faeries-by-michele-k-henderson.html
If you haven't been over to see the samples on their website yet, then you have GOT to check it out.. and fall in love! The artist in the link above is Michele K. Henderson and she does AMAZING work!!
I love these fairies SO MUCH... and the best part about these is that the fairy body and wings are 2 separate die-cuts. In the sample below, I used only the fairy bodies (without the wings) and they make *perfect* ballerinas!! Pictured are: Graceful Faerie, Nimble Faerie, and River Faerie
**Each Fae comes with different wings!**
I was impressed by these new stitched card frames also new from Memory Box..
The idea is that you can run the die-cut through the front side of a card and it will cut a stitched border on the outside as well as create a mini stitched frame for the inside of you card!
This makes it really easy to make a card with a window in front that add just a touch of decoration :-)
This same style comes in 2 different prints.. stitched or dotted!
We got in a variety of new products, but this one, Sheer Circle Wreath, looked intriguing... so I decided to play!!
The idea with this die-cut is that it cuts a light circle shape into the card with a few holes here-and-there to add interest.
**In the sample below, I cut the same shape in the front of the card 3 times**
My first thought was.. "It looks like a wreath!" and when you layer it on a cranberry-colored paper.. it really does look like a Holiday Card!! (Add a sweet sentiment like this one to make it more festive!!)
Of course, for the summer time, this die-cut can come in handy too!!
I decided to layer this one up using a couple of the ocean-themed die-cuts from the last Memory Box release... Delicate Sea Fan and Wandering Jellyfish..
I love how the Sheer Circle Wreath looks on this card.. It really looks like a bubble background!!
There are EVEN MORE fairies, feathers, stamps and more.. come in to see us to really see it ALL!!!
We are open every weekend, come by and see us! We stay open until 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays
What a busy week it's been around the store!!
We have lots of new stuff rolling in.. nearly every day it feels like!! But by far.. my most favorite this week has been NEW PAPER!!!!!
These 3 new paper lines are from Bo Bunny and *I LOVE IT ALL*
Featured first is Weekend Adventures which showcases these adorable little animals as well as hot air balloons and this positively adorable beach umbrella paper!!!
If you are a card maker, then you will LOVE working with these little images.. I had fun just putting together these few cards to give you some ideas..
I used some of these stamps from Hero Arts (Sending Love), Impression Obsession (Impulse 2)....and I especially loved the Sending Hugs stamp (Verses) because it reminds me of a Bear Hug when you pair it with the woodland paper from this line!!! TOO CUTE
This line also comes with adorable little stamps!!! We love these little images...
The next paper line that I was just drooling over was this MERMAID PAPER!!! Have you been in to see it yet? I immediately had to snag some for myself.. these little mermaids could not be sweeter..
I really enjoyed using the textured ribbon to create cards from this line.. This technique of layering textures is inspired by Wendy.. she's always using texture in fun ways!!
Recently, I have been looking at a more Modern style of scrapbooking and seeing what people have been making. Using Ultramarine Colorburst, ribbons from May Arts, and this Down by the Sea line from Bo Bunny, I created this adorable scrapbook page idea!!
I love the idea of using these papers to make mini art collage or to accent a photo to put in a frame.. 12" x 12" papers traditionally are used for scrapbooking.. but I love to push the norm and think outside of the box!!
The last line, and a favorite among some of our customers this week, is this sweet and elegant line, Serendipity. The line features birds, feathers, and some very sweet spring prints!
The gals created some fantastic cards from this line! If you look closely you can see the pop of the little butterfly on the birdhouse image!!
For those scrapbookers out there, this page design is to die for! Loving the little feathers at the corner..
I loved how Denise expertly used the Flitter.. Flutter.. Fly stamp by Pink Ink Designs!! Clever!
Stop by to see us this week!! We always have more new stuff on the way in... we would love to show you what's new and what we've been working on!
See you soon, friends!!
This week for Tuesday with Wendy class, the cards all had a bit of an "Ocean" motif that flowed between the 3 different styles of cards.. and I LOVED THEM ALL!!
Wendy used these designs from Fred B. Mullett, Seahorse 2 and Rec. Net. I love how she even used some of this textured ribbon from May Arts to really bring an added element to the card.
If you'll notice, she did an interesting-fold technique here.. she stamped the sentiment (One of the sayings from the Penny Black set, Happy Wishes) on the backside of the seahorse image and made a tri-fold style of card..
She even embossed in 2 colors to really make this card interesting!! You'll have to stop by and see it in person to get the full effect!!
The next card is made using this new set from Stampendous featuring more Laurel Burch designs.. this one is called Mermaid.
Wendy stamped this image out on bright-colored paper and brought the whole thing together with this fun and funky paper from American Crafts, Hello Spring
Wow!! This card is beautiful!!
Wendy used Prismacolor pencils to bring the mermaid to life.. but I love it just plain as well! The colors are so vibrant.. love it for a summertime or birthday card!!
Isn't this card just stunning??!!
The last card, and one of the most popular from class, was this card which is made using a variety of stamps and die-cuts.
Wendy used these layering die-cuts from Memory Box to create this layered Ocean card... Coral Collage and Seaweed Collage. She used handmade paper on the front and plain white card stock as the base. When she cut out the shapes, you can see right into the inside of the card!!
Wendy stamped a little Octopus on a piece of thick vellum and placed him in the front and she stamped this Stylized Whale on the inside!! Both of these stamps are made by Stampendous
I LOVE the placement of the whale!! How cool is that!?
The sentiment for this card also comes from the Penny Black set, Happy Wishes
Just as a side-note, stamping and embossing on the vellum is REALLY NEAT, but you need to stamp on THICK vellum in order to achieve the proper effect!!
This weekend was like Christmas here at the store!! Every new delivery was brand new product and, as always, I GOT SO EXCITED!!!
New Memory Box, Impression Obsession, and Sizzix designs are now out!!
There are LOTS of fun new ones.. I would love to play all day and make samples of them ALL!!! But instead I'll just "oohh" and "ahhh" over a few of my favorites...
I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the new designs from Memory Box!!! This die-cut, Avezzano Butterflies, is so intricate and beautiful!! It makes for a quick card just by adding a colored paper behind it.. I added diamond Stickles as well.. which, let's be honest.. IS MY FAVORITE PART!! You'll have to stop by the store to see this one.. the butterflies are practically flying off the page!!
Memory Box also just released a series of these EXTREMELY cute ocean-themed die-cuts!!!! They are SO ADORABLE.. all the little creatures are absolutely darling! We had a lot of fun digging through the baskets to find our favorites!!
One of my all time favorites was the Ocean Swell, which I just HAD to cut out immediately!! I loved this color palette... and the shades of teal with a touch of textured ribbon really made this card look amazing..
We also got in some new products from Impression Obsession including a nice Happy Easter die-cut and some beautiful flowers..
We also just LOVED the feathers!!!
We can't forget the all new die-cuts from Sizzix... the sets barely made it out of the box and I was jumping with joy!!!
I was ESPECIALLY excited about this new Cityscape, Commute die-cut... I mean *did you see* all the little automobiles, the plane, and the helicopter!!?? They are SO CUTE!!!
I found some paper on our shelf that has the skyscrapers on it.. which worked out SO PERFECTLY for this card!!
Sizzix came out with the Fold-A-long die-cuts last year (if you've been into the store, you may have seen the Fox Fold-A-Long one of our customers made). Well, Sizzix came out with another one, and it's a CACTUS!!
How cute is this...
We offer one of the largest selections of die-cuts in the area! If you haven't stopped by to check it out.. you may just want to plan a trip!!!
We literally have walls of die-cuts for your home die-cut machine and we would be happy to help you find the die you are looking for!!
There are baskets of all the new products out on the counter... stop by to see all the Newest of the New!!!
And if you happen to be in the area, join us for Demo this Wednesday, March 15th, from noon to 1pm downstairs in the Atrium. This week's theme is Magical Spring with me, Elli!!
We hope to see you soon!!
This was the very first Tuesday with Wendy class of the New Year!!
So many familiar faces.. it's always wonderful to see everyone!
The cards this week were inspired by new stamps from Stampendous, Impression Obsession, and Penny Black.. They are all great cards, which could be used for a variety of occasions! But all three also work perfectly for Valentine's Day <3
Just look at how *AMAZING* these cards are!!!
The first card features an artist you may be familiar with, Laurel Burch. Her art has been popular for many years and has been seen in a variety of ways including clothing, purses, and now stamps! The stamp is called Feline Friend and is made by Stampendous.
This card was simply made by stamping the image with Versamark ink and embossing it in gold embossing powder ---> when you color the image, it creates the most amazing effect that makes it look like a REAL Laurel Burch piece of art. The image has been accented with a piece of handmade paper made by Shizen, and the card is finished off with a stamp from Impression Obsession, It's so much more friendly with two...Visit us here at the store to see this card in person, it is BEAUTIFUL.
The second card... it is just too cute for words. Of course, it's hard to show you on a computer screen.. but this card WOBBLES!!! Better than that, it uses brand new ---> mini wobbles <---- !!!! They are so perfect for making those tiny images just come to life. How fun!!
This card was made by first stamping the I Love You Background by Impression Obsession with Versamark ink and embossing it with gold embossing powder. Then, Wendy cut out a piece of the image using the nesting Sunray Venus set from Tonic. She stamped the image Heart Line by Impression Obsession on the inside of the card.
From the new Penny Black set, Hearts Aplenty, Wendy cut out the little owls sitting on the branch. THIS WAS WHAT SHE MINI-WOBBLED!!!! It is sooooo cute when you see it in person.. I just LOVE it!!
The last card uses the piece that Wendy cut out of the last card. This time, she made a collage-style card where she layered the cut-out piece with two images from the Penny Black set she used earlier. The set features five different images.. we love all the little critters this set has!! Especially this cute little mouse...
We colored the images using prismacolor pencils. Wendy even hid another little animal on the inside!! (you'll have to come in to see us to see what it is!!)
Thanks again to everyone who came to class this week!!
The next Tuesday with Wendy class is offered Tuesday January 31st at 11am, 1:30pm OR 6pm... Call us at the store 360-647-9663 for more information and to sign up!
This weekend, we got in an order of *ALL NEW* Taylored Expressions!!
My FAVORITE are the brand new Monogram die-cut sets!!
Each set comes with a 4" capital letter, a 1" capital letter, and a 1" lowercase letter.
The large letters are SO PERFECT for making banners!! And.. with a little creativity... you can add your 4-legged-friend into the banner too <3
**WE ARE CURRENTLY TAKING PRE-ORDERS**
If you just HAVE to have your own monogram set, call or come in to order!! The set is $20 and can be used again and again to cut paper, suede paper, glitter paper, and more!
Come see us to get inspired.. you can make a gift stationary set, a sweet card, you could even appliqué onto tea towels!! The possibilites are limited only by your imagination!
The next VERY COOL item we got in are these ADORABLE calendars!! They are a loose-leaf calendar which means you can bind (or not bind) them in any way you please!! Hole punch with a ring, slide into a sleeve, post individual sheets on a clipboard.. it's up to you! They are 5" x 7" and are great even for just marking down birthdays.. really a nice set.
AND... if it could get any better.. THESE mini watercolor sheets!! The set includes 12 beautiful images, great for making a quick card or as sweet gift set with a few watercolor pencils.. but the BEST PART is that they FIT THE CALENDARS perfectly!! 12 cards because -- *surprise* -- 12 months!! The pumpkins, the hearts, and the little apples are SO CUTE. It makes sense to have them for the calendar. But really, they are great for anything. And with a price point of just $4, it is TOTALLY worth it.
Next up are these AMAZING jewelry box gift sets. For those of you who have a home die-cut machine, this gift set makes so much sense!! Especially if you'd like to recycle any altoid tins you may have laying around..
The idea for this set is that you can cut out paper to line the tin making it perfect for a small gift. The one die-cut set comes with a template for a necklace, earrings, and the little "TO" and "FROM" . It is sooo adorable and simple!! I just had to create this little sample using a stamp from Inkadinkadoo and a little tree boder die-cut from Taylored Expressions.
As well as all this from Taylored Expressions, we also got in new Impression Obsession, Avery Elle, Fred Mullet stamps and stencils, and Penny Black!! LOTS to see! We can't wait for you to visit.. we are open 10am to 6pm Monday through Friday and we are open until 5pm on the weekend! See you soon, Friends :-)
If you are like many of our customers, you may be already starting on your Christmas cards!!
We just got in a large shipment from Impression Obsession and it includes all of their *NEWEST* die-cuts!!
This is just a small selection of what we currently have in stock, so you'll have to come by the store to see everything we offer!
I love this tree scenery!! It is so quick to cut out, and could be a holiday card, or fall, or even a card for a gentleman!! It really depends on the colors you use to cut out the tree.. the possibilities are endless!!
I used stardust stickles and sparkly twine to give the idea of a snowy scene...
This card was SO easy to make, and if you are making upwards of 25 to 40 cards, this is a nice option. I used the die cut Christmas Word Collage. Just run it through, layer it up, and add some ribbon. I used *brand new* ribbon from May Arts and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out!!
This card is MY FAVORITE. The Sleigh Scene just matches perfectly with the Believe in the Magic stamp from Penny Black. I just finished it off with a bit of ribbon with a hint of gold sparkle.. it turned out beautiful!!
Come in to the store to see them all.. there are some really stunning images for this season!!!
Today I am going to show you step by step how to make this BEAUTIFUL stand-up card. This idea comes from one of our customers, Carol from Canada. Her and her friends came down to see us and told me about an Acetate Card they had been making using the Hunkydory sets. The results are astounding, you'll have to come by the store to see because pictures just don't do it justice!!
You will need:
A piece of 12x12 inch acetate
A piece of paper for the base (I recommend a piece of 12x12 paper with a soft pattern or a solid color)
Paper or stickers with fun shapes to arrange on the "staircase"
Paper cutter and score board
Scissors (for fussy cutting)
Any embellishments you desire, like gems or ribbon, or die cuts*
* if using die-cut shapes, you will need a die-cut machine
First, I gathered up my paper. I chose this line from Carta Bella, Christmas Delivery.
I chose 2 pieces of 12 x 12 paper (a paper for my base, a paper with fun shapes to cut out) and then some solid papers to cut some die cut shapes out of.
Then, I started to cut the paper down for my card. I cut the Acetate to 5 1/2 x 11 inches and I cut the paper base to 5 1/2 x 9 inches.
I also cut out the topper piece, which sits on top of the Acetate Card. In this case, this paper matches the base card paper. I cut this to 2 x 5 1/2 inches.
I cut the back, sentiment piece. This measures 2 x 5 1/2 inches. As well as a small 1 x 5 1/2 inch piece for the front. This paper also matches the base card paper
Then, I got out my score board.
I scored the acetate at the halfway point, at 5 1/2 inches. I scored the topper piece at 1 inch, and then I scored the base card piece... scoring it at the following:
2 inches, 4 inches, 5 1/2 inches, 7 inches, and 8 inches. If you accordion fold it, you will create the "staircase"
Next, I started to build my card. I used these die-cut shapes--Snowy Tree and Spruce Stems by Cottage Cutz and the On the Road-Truck by Taylored Expressions.
I also cut out some shapes from the Carta Bella paper. The backside of my base paper had some really cute delivery trucks that paired nicely with my die cut shapes.
I used double sided tape to assemble my card.
I attached the topper piece to the top of the acetate and the sentiment piece to the back of my Acetate Card.
Starting with the 2 inch side of the "staircase," I attached it to the inside of my card.
At this point, I now have an acetate card with a staircase at the base and a back piece for the sentiment.
Now, get the front piece (cut to 1 x 5 1/2 inches) and attach it to the front of your Acetate Card. From the side, your card should look like the second picture below:
Then, the FUN PART!!! Time to add on all the fun shapes!!!
I placed a little tag shape on the back for my sentiment.. so sweet <3
I wanted to create a scene for this card, so I cut out the little mail truck, and some delivery labels from the paper line. Lydia suggested mounting the Parcel Post sign at the top and paired with the little branches it is SO CUTE.
I used The Ultimate glue to glue my pieces together. It bonds to nearly everything and is very versatile, also dries completely clear!
All done!! This card fits nicely into a 6 inch square envelope *square envelopes are more expensive to mail, just as an FYI!*
What a cute card idea, and it sits up on its own, which makes for a nice decoration!
The possibilities are truly endless.. add in a gift card, a photograph, or a surpise inside :-)
You'll have to stop by the store to see these cards in person, they are such an inspiration!
