Tuesday with Wendy, June 27

6/30/2017

This last Tuesday with Wendy class was more on the artistic side of things.. and Wendy was definitely in her element!!

All of these cards have a more subtle, artist touch to them, making them great for any occasion! The inside is left blank.. which is great for stamping your own sentiment or writing your own personalized note
Picture
The first card, pictured above on the left, was done using the Gelli-plate.

Wendy used a piece of black paper and a piece of white paper to create this effect.

Using a brayer and Pebeo Studio Acrylic paints, Wendy applied a small dot of 4 colors of paint.. using the brayer to make a thin coat on the Gelli-plate.

Then, using stencils made by Joggles, Wendy did a mono-print off of the Gelli-plate onto the black paper. She removed the stencil and did another mono-print, this time with the white piece of paper.. the results are astounding..

You end up with the same colors on both a black and white piece of paper.. but since the colors of paint are the same, the papers match well with each other!

Next, Wendy cut a large image of the mono-print out of her black piece and used the leftover scraps of paper to create a woven effect.. how cool is that?!!
Picture
What I loved about this card... the format was really up to you!!

It was so fun to walk around the room and see other people thinking outside of the box a little bit..

Wendy included a tiny bit of Stardream, Gold paper in with their card making kit.. it was really fun to see how the students used the pop of gold in unique ways!
Wendy herself even experimented a little bit.. using an exacto knife she created a little buckle here that she slid some of those little bits and pieces into... what a cool effect!!
Picture
The next card in the series was this one that has this nice sharp edge of black.. It has almost a modern, Art Deco kind of feel to it.

This card was also made using the Gelli-plate.

This technique is a little different. Wendy used these 3 unusual-shaped Gelli-plates, which are the Gelpress Petites. These unique plates are great for creating unique effects but keep it small so you can do multiples on a card.

Wendy used a different color of acrylic paints on each block. Then, she used stamps (the ones in the photo are  Lil' Sea Urchin and Half Shells, made by Fred B. Mullett). By stamping the image into the Gelli-plate, you are able to imprint that shape into your paint!

Once again, doing a mono-print to transfer the image onto the black paper.
This technique is great.. no 2 cards looked exactly the same!!! It was fun to see the results..

Wendy finished off the card with a die-cut  from Elizabeth Craft, Leafy Branch.

The last card that Wendy designed for class was made using 3 different colors of Distress Inks ...Seedless Preserves, Dusty Concord, and Mermaid Lagoon.
Picture
The technique:

First, stamp some ink out on a silicone craft mat. Spritz some water on the ink to activate the colors.

Using a piece of Kromkote, glossy side down, transfer the ink by sliding it across the craft mat. The 3 colors blend together beautifully!

*LET IT DRY*
Next, use the VersaMark ink pad. Press the ink pad across the entire surface of the colored glossy paper. If your ink is COMPLETELY DRY then no color should transfer to your VersaMark ink pad.

Apply a generous coat of Detail Clear embossing powder and heat set.

NOW THE FUN PART!!

Do a second layer of the VersaMark ink pad and a second layer of the Detail Clear. BEFORE YOU HEAT SET IT, sprinkle on some inclusions! In this class.. Wendy used 2 different products, both by Stampendous.. Glitter Mix and Shaved Ice.

Then she heat set it.. BE SURE to heat from the underside of the card this time!! Otherwise, the inclusions will fly off when the heat gun starts blowing air!!
Picture
The results are just STUNNING!!!

As you are heating up your embossing powder, you will see the colors COME TO LIFE!!

Picture
Just like before.. all the cards turned out just a bit different from the next!!
This was a REALLY fun class... and Denise told me she already went home to play!! (Keep and eye out.. I'll post her samples on our Facebook Page!!! www.facebook.com/stampadoodle )

Join us for the next Tuesday with Wendy class!! July 11th!

The class is offered at 3 DIFFERENT TIMES!!
11am, 1:30 OR 6pm.. give us a call to sign up!! 360-647-9663
